🏈 Sports Leagues and Odds

Bet99 is easily comparable to bet365 in terms of sports league availability and competitive odds. One of Bet99’s standout features is its user-friendly interface. Navigating the site is a breeze, with a clean layout and intuitive design. We like Bet99’s FAQ section, where they thoroughly answer nearly every question that might crop up. Bettors can get in touch with them through live chat in the top right corner, or via email at [email protected].

5. Pinnacle Canada Sportsbook

⭐ Overall Review Rating: 4.5/5

Known for their Winner’s Welcome policy, Pinnacle is the best choice for bettors seeking large payouts and valuable odds. Pinnacle does not offer bonuses and as a result can offer reduced juice on the odds they offer players. Read Full Pinnacle Review.

🏈 Sports Leagues and Odds

Pinnacle Canada doesn’t offer the largest menu of sports leagues, but they generally cover the important ones most fans are looking for. Where they really excel is in Esports and Virtual Sports leagues, which they have individual betting hubs dedicated to. In addition, they have over 900 soccer markets available daily.

💲 Payment Methods

Pinnacle exceeds all other sportsbooks when it comes to payment methods. They offer numerous cryptocurrency payment methods, digital wallets, and credit cards. 6. Betway Canada Sportsbook

⭐ Overall Review Rating: 4.5/5

Betway is another excellent choice for Canadian sports bettors. With extensive coverage of international sports leagues, Betway is an unrivalled leader in the global sportsbook community, and now within Canada as well. For bettors who want security, Betway is a very safe sportsbook to bet with. They take customer funds very seriously and protect bettors through advanced IT systems. Read Full Betway Review.

🏈 Sports Leagues and Odds

Betway is definitely in the top of the charts when it comes to sports leagues. They offer nearly everything a bettor would look for including hockey, football, basketball, golf, UFC, cricket, cycling, darts, snooker, motorsports, rugby, and more. Betway also offers novelty betting, and betting on US politics.

💲 Payment Methods

Betway offers a range of deposit and withdrawal options that most bettors will be satisfied with. Currently, bettors can pay at Betway using Interac e-Transfer, Visa, Mastercard, Google Pay, MuchBetter, iDebit, Paysafecard, Neosurf, Payz, and Flexepin.

🔥 Support & Experience

Betway doesn’t quite meet our expectations in the user experience and customer support areas. While the site itself is well laid out and easy to find what you’re looking for, getting in touch with their customer support is difficult. Betway has an extensive list of FAQs that likely will answer your questions. The problem is if they don’t, you have to find an article that asks “Do you need more help?” (and keep in mind, not all of them do), and if you click “yes” you will then be put in touch with a person.

10. PowerPlay Canada Sportsbook

⭐ Overall Review Rating: 4.5/5

PowerPlay is known as Canada’s sportsbook having been launched by Canadians, for Canadians in 2018. PowerPlay has earned a solid reputation for its exceptional customer service since its launch, with a variety of options available to bettors 24/7. PowerPlay also offers Canadian bettors daily live betting coverage, so you never miss out on the action. Read Full PowerPlay Review

🏈 Sports Leagues and Odds

PowerPlay stacks up well against the competition for its variety of sports leagues. For such a small site, they do well offering obscure leagues like eSports, Gaelic Football, Table Tennis, and lots of Virtual Sports. PowerPlay is one of few sportsbooks that offers “fun” props — for instance, they had number of Taylor Swift-themed props for Super Bowl 58. As for their odds, they’re not often the most competitive book, but they usually keep up with the likes of bet365.

💲 Payment Methods

PowerPlay offers a ton of options for deposits and withdrawals. Essentially if you want to spend money here, they’re just fine with that. Canadian sports bettors can pay at PowerPlay using the following: Interac e-Transfer, Visa, Mastercard, MuchBetter, EcoPayz, Neteller, Skrill, UCB, Discover, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin.

PowerPlay is known for its excellent customer service, which can be fairly important should something go wrong. The support staff at PowerPlay are friendly and informative and get back to you in a matter of seconds. As for the betting site experience, the colour scheme can be a bit much on the eyes, but they make up for it with a very easy-to-navigate menu.

How To Choose A Sportsbook In Canada

What makes the best Canadian sports betting site will mean different things to different people. As a starting point, try to assess what’s important to you, and what could make or break your betting experience. To help you decide, here’s a common list of criteria you can check for to ensure the book meets your needs:

Security and Licensing

Not all sportsbooks are allowed to operate across Canada. Sportsbooks must obtain a license to operate within Ontario, while others exclusively operate within the grey market. Be sure to read our sportsbook reviews for the book you’re interested in to learn if they’re licensed to operate where you live.

Payment Methods

Some sportsbooks are notorious for only accepting a handful of payment options. If you like to deposit and withdraw with credit card, you’re likely fine to bet at any book. Cryptocurrency users may have a harder time finding options that work for them.

Bonuses and Promotions

We recommend sports bettors compare the welcome bonuses and ongoing promotions available at their sportsbook of choice before committing. If you’re going to bet at a sports betting site, you may as well select the one that’s going to reward you for choosing them. You can compare all ongoing betting bonuses here.

League Variety

Always check the availability and variety of leagues before committing to a sportsbook. Some sports betting sites, such as William Hill, are more UK-oriented and will therefore offer leagues that appeal more to British bettors. Alternatively, sportsbooks like PowerPlay and Sports Interaction are heavily focused on Canadian leagues.

Customer Service

Customer service can be a large factor when dealing with grey market sports betting sites. While most major sportsbooks, and those we recommend, are highly reputable — sometimes payments can be delayed, bonuses aren’t deposited, or accounts can run into issues. Knowing you have access to a great customer service team can rest your mind at ease.

Competitive Odds and Lines

Competitive odds should be a top consideration for most players. most sportsbooks offer similar or nearly identical products, and therefore have to compete on price. Because of this, bettors should never settle on paying more money to potentially win an equal amount. We always recommend bettors seek out multiple books to compare.

Live Betting

Not all books offer live betting options, and of those who do, some do it much better. Sports betting sites like bet365 include live streaming with their live betting, so you know the bets align with what you’re seeing on screen. Other betting sites like TonyBet have excellent interactive interfaces with real-time colour-coded updates.

Ease of Access

Finally, always consider the look and feel of a sportsbook. There’s hundreds of options out there, so why choose a sportsbook that you find hard to navigate? Or one that has a convoluted sign up process? Some sportsbooks like Sports Interaction have done a wonderful job setting up their sportsbook, so there’s no need to settle in terms of user experience.

Sportsbooks Canada Quick Facts

There’s a lot of information to digest on the best sports betting sites Canada has to offer. We summarize the key details here:

Online Sports Betting Legal?Yes, but not regulated

Regulated Betting MarketsOntario

Canadian sports betting sites operate in the grey market. With the exception of Ontario, sportsbooks are not illegal, but they are also not regulated in Canada. That said, online sportsbooks in Canada are exceptionally well built, making it easier than ever to bet on the top sports betting sites in Canada from home. Between the Canadian sports betting laws that have evolved significantly in recent years and the growth of the internet, it’s no surprise that online sportsbooks in Canada have seen such a boom. New Canadian sportsbooks hit the market all the time — so stayed tuned to Canada Sports Betting for all the updates.

Most Canadian provinces have established their own betting platforms via their provincial regulator commissions today. That said, private online sportsbooks generally compare better than their government counterparts. To sports bettors who have traditionally bet in person, there are some serious differences between wagering at your local lottery kiosk and with a globally recognized online bookmaker. While some provincial providers, like Ontario’s very own PROLINE+, already have some online gambling experience, there is still an adjustment curve at play for most of them. Meanwhile, many of the privately-run books listed on this page have been fine-tuning their systems for decades. These Canadian sportsbooks have proven themselves as being among the best bookmakers — even before the internet was a driving force.

Sports Betting Legalized In Canada 2021

Single-event betting was illegal in Canada until relatively recently. In June 2021, The Safe And Regulated Sports Betting Act was passed in Canada, leading the way to Bill C-218 being given Royal Assent later in the month. On August 27th, 2021, Canadian Bettors got their first-taste of legal single-event betting, by virtue of provincially-run services.

Some provinces were very quick to the punch in launching their services. Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia had their provincially-run services operational on the earliest day possible, and the rest followed suit. Provincially-run online services are not yet available the three territories, though we could see movement on that as soon as this summer.

What Options Do Provinces Offer Canadian Residents?

Available Canada-wide, via the government-run Interprovincial Lottery Corporation, Canadians have a variety of homegrown betting options. That includes land-based casinos and racetracks, plus provincial sports lottery kiosks. Unfortunately, brick-and-mortar sportsbooks are absent from major cities like Toronto and Vancouver.

Depending on which province they reside in, Canadian bettors can wager on sports markets with Canadian Sports Lotteries. While options vary by jurisdiction, odds for the top levels of the big five North American team sports (NHL, NFL, MLB and NBA, plus multiple soccer leagues) are featured. Schemes like Proline and Sports Select have historically required players to place accumulator/parlay bets, but are moving into the brave new world of single-event betting as well. Go online, eh!

All Canadian sports betting sites offer common banking methods such as debit and credit. As for more obscure banking methods, not all sportsbooks will offer every option. If you’re looking for a book that accepts a specific deposit method, check out our Canadian deposit method page. Otherwise, all online sportsbooks will list their accepted banking options in their help section.

The discrepancy between banking options comes down to cost. Some options are more expensive for the sportsbook, so larger Canadian sports betting sites will generally have a wider variety of options available.

In the regulated Ontario market, sports bettors will find more options to connect your betting wallet directly with your bank account, such as through e-transfer. Comparatively, sportsbooks in the grey market (i.e. the rest of Canada) are often unable to connect with Canadian banks directly due to regulatory compliance issues.

Do Sportsbooks in Canada Accept Cryptocurrency?

In recent years, we’ve seen several major books begin to accept cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and others for deposits. Some have even incentivized users to go that route with extra cashback incentives.

With that said, the move to legal, regulated betting in Canada has seen some of that momentum dissipate, as provincial governments aren’t as excited about the crypto market. In Ontario, for example, none of the regulated sports betting sites accept cryptocurrency.

How We Review Canadian Sportsbooks

It’s important for bettors in Canada to soak in as much information as possible before betting online. That said, we caution bettors that not all sportsbook reviews are created equally. Here at Canada Sports Betting, we only recommend sportsbooks that our team would actually use. Some online sportsbook reviews are written purely for revenue — so we caution readers to learn who exactly is writing their reviews before trusting the information. Prior to being added to our recommended list, the sportsbooks we review must meet high safety and quality standards. Our reviews are not based on payments from the sportsbooks we present, but rather on the overall value and entertainment experience they deliver to players across Canada. To be among our best online sportsbook portfolio, betting sites must truly be a top Canadian sportsbook — a platform that we would use on a regular basis ourselves.

As such, we put as much effort as possible into reviewing the platforms we recommend to you. We make sure to deliver real, tangible experiences of our own, and provide book criticisms and warnings we think players need to be aware of. As such, you can expect our sportsbook reviews will truly lead you to the best options in Canada. Any platform that we recommend to you is one that we also feel comfortable with using — we register, deposit, and place bets at every Canadian sports betting site that makes our top-ranked list.

Can You Bet On Esports In Canada?

Select Canadian sportsbooks offer e-sports and virtual sports betting. As e-sports have skyrocketed in popularity, they’ve also found their niche in the betting sphere. Thanks to bigger, higher-stakes tournaments, more robust governing bodies for events, better coverage and ranking of talent, and extremely accessible streaming options to watch the action, e-sports have become just as intriguing as physical ones for Canadian bettors.

E-sports and virtual sports fans will find options for many of their favourite games at Canadian sportsbooks. Call of Duty, Counter-Strike (CSGO), League of Legends, Starcraft, Valorant, and Defenders of the Ancients (DOTA) are all frequent finds, among others. This is another feature that separates online books from in-person Canadian sports lotteries — you won’t find this variety at the gas station.

Can You Make Money Sports Betting?

Sports bettors who take the time to learn why lines move, how to uncover value bets, and truly develop a betting strategy can make money betting. Bettors who place eagers at random are much less likely to succeed. In short, online sportsbooks are not a gravy train to easy living and untold wealth. Certain steps must be followed in order to achieve success in the fast-paced online gambling world. Selecting a good sportsbook is an important first step to making money betting — but it’s important to pay attention to factors like team injuries, weather, and so much more that affect line movement.

Unfortunately, it’s also very easy to lose a lot of money while sports betting. Bettors should familiarize themselves with responsible gambling practices, such as bankroll management.

Canada Sports Betting is here to help you aim to beat the books. We’ll help you stay up to date with the top sports leagues via our NBA, MLB, NHL, and NFL Power Rankings, our Free NBA Picks, and a plethora of other predictions on everything from International Sports, to politics, to entertainment events.

Keep in mind that our power rankings, picks, and information on the best sportsbooks are for educational purposes. Money spent should always be part of your entertainment expenses, and not vital to your day-to-day life. Playing online should always be an entertainment-first hobby, with profits being a positive but not a necessity. Do not bet beyond your means, and make sure that you’re following the rules and regulations in your province and within your preferred books.

SportsBooks Not Available in Canada

Sportsbooks In Canada FAQs

Are there sportsbooks in Canada? What sportsbook can I use in Canada?

The answer here is that there are a ton of sportsbooks available in Canada! Legality depends on your province’s regulations, obviously. Most provinces and territories only officially support government operators, while a province like Ontario has dozens of government-sanctioned sportsbooks. Canada is still figuring out the legal process here, but that doesn’t mean that you aren’t without options – several of the big books also have ways to be used across the country.

Some of these Canada sportbooks are truly Canadian – meaning they’re designed by or for the market specifically. Venues like TheScore Bet, NorthStar Bets, BetRegal, Sports Interaction, and Bet99 are among those that see Canada as their top priority.

What is the best sportsbook in Canada?

Here are the top five sportsbooks for Canadian sports betting in 2024:
1.Sports Interaction

That said, the answer to this question is going to likely be best figured out by you, as a player. We have a bevy of reviews here on Canada Sports Betting that give our opinions on what the best sportsbooks in Canada are, but what we might find to be the best sportsbook in Canada might not suit your own needs. There’s a lot of mutual threading between the various platforms, so check out what we have to say about the major players, visit a few of the ones we like, and figure out which little differences are geared best to your needs!

Which Sportsbook has the best deals? Which sportsbooks give you free money? Which online sportsbook has the best promotions?

Ultimately, you’re going to see the answer to this question change on a frequent basis. Sportsbooks tend to be fast and furious with promotions and incentives but might run stronger and weaker ones depending on the upcoming events and how aggressive they want to be in bringing in new customers like yourself. Your best course of action when trying to find the best offers from Canadian sportsbooks will be to check in frequently and weigh your options – CSB will help you along the way, of course!

Are sportsbook bonuses worth it? Can you withdraw a sportsbook bonus?

The value you get back from promotional incentives from sportsbooks really depends on how you use it. If you’re a very casual player, some requirements to unlock these promotions might be out of reach for you, in which case you’re more likely to benefit from a platform with a better interface, better lines, or something that adds to your experience. If you’re a high-volume bettor, deal-hunting may increase your margins even more.

Withdrawing extra credit will usually depend on the promotion that you opt into. Many have requirements for how many times you risk the money to begin with before you turn it into your own. You also have to do this cycle before a cutoff time in most cases, otherwise the credit will disappear. It’s always a good idea to read the terms and conditions on any offer you accept, so you aren’t caught off guard by unmet requirements later.
